The project
Landestini is an organization that emphasizes the virtues of cultivating a vegetable garden, in terms of producing healthy local produce, regenerating the biodiversity and creating local green spaces, and learning how the soil and ecosystems work while reconnecting people with nature. A vegetable garden is a genuine educational tool that brings people together and encourages eco-citizenship.
The benefits of a vegetable garden
Landestini has launched a national competition benefiting youngsters and our planet to promote healthy and local food and educate people by getting their hands dirty: the “French Vegetable Garden Cup”. This is the project the Akuo Foundation has chosen; its goal is to support the development of education with regard to food and nutrition as well as physical activity in schools on the French island of Reunion through practical actions such as the creation and tending of a vegetable garden, training and educational visits regarding sustainable food, protecting our health and the environment.
