Mainland France
France, a historical and strategic country for Akuo’s operations
When it was founded in 2007, Akuo quite logically began operating on its homeland where the first wind and solar projects soon took shape.
Mainland France, the birthplace of the Group’s activities, is a key region, a real showcase for our technological diversification and our expertise across the entire value chain of the renewable energy generation business.
In its early days, Akuo, consisting of a handful of developers at the time, spent a while identifying opportunities for land and new projects throughout France, before soon realizing the importance and necessity of establishing local operations.
Our asset managers were the first to open dedicated offices, in Aix-en-Provence. This initiated the establishment of our regional footprint, as a logical consequence of insourcing key skills in the maintenance of our first solar farms (Verrerie, Bellegarde, Laudun, Saint-Charles Solaire, etc.).
The development teams soon followed suit, moving into the Mediterranean offices first and then opening other new sites. From Toulouse to Paris, and to Nantes, Lyon, and Marseille, the aim was clear: be as close to our projects as possible, in order to better understand the local challenges and provide optimal maintenance and supervision of our plants in operation.
A country with a changing energy landscape
With national ambitions to reach 40% renewable energy in the mix by 2030, and despite the heightened competition, Akuo is pursuing its objectives for growth in mainland France, securing new projects and, through them, continuing to roll out the Group’s expertise.
The pioneer of agrivoltaics, Akuo – with the support of its long-standing partner Agriterra – continues work to provide concrete solutions to the current challenges of the agricultural sector, in line with those of the energy transition.
The innovative solutions we deploy, such as our plant monitoring systems, floating solar projects, power storage technology and water management solutions, are central to this challenge and will help us to achieve the low-carbon and agricultural transition goals of our regions.
