Rapale
Commissioned in October 2010, the Rapale power plant has marked the history of photovoltaics in Corsica in two respects. Not only was it the first to be installed on the island (and the fifth to be built in France), but it will also be the first “repowered” plant on the Island of Beauty once the construction of Rapale II is completed. Located in Rapale, the power plant takes the form of three grazed areas, separated by wooded hills.
In addition to the creation of renewable electricity, half of the land occupied by Rapale is allocated to cultivation and breeding activities or to various facilities for the endemic fauna. An agrivoltaism partnership was set up with a local shepherd who operates the “Casgiu d'Amore” cheese dairy. She can use the whole site of the power plant for the grazing of her herd, the storage of her equipment, the pasturing of her ewe lambs and an area dedicated to fodder.
